On the coast of Maine a tiny lobstering village, Prospect Harbor, rises at the shore of 10-foot tides, and looks skyward to the soaring gulls. Any given day here can bring vistas that draw visitors from all parts of the globe. It's our neighbors, however, both year-round and seasonal, that provide the profound sense of community that defines life in downeast Maine. A book was written several years ago whose title depicts the support and nurturing my small soap company has been given by our village. Although "It Takes a Village" expresses insights into childrearing and not business, the growth of a small company can be just as daunting a challenge.
Many of the products you see here on our website are the direct result of community members' comments, such as the one from a lobsterman's wife who expressed her wish that her husband smelled better when he came in off the boat. My family and friends tested my experiments for many years before I felt ready to present products to all of you. Church members have learned (many the hard way) that I'm not bringing a plate of sliced cheese to fellowship hour, but soap instead.
With a caring spirit, I bring to you products made from the finest ingredients gathered from around the world, to soothe and protect your weathered and work-worn skin.
